AND ATTENTION GETTING HEADLINE |
That case of sniffles, cough, and headache that your child has that just won't quit might be a sinus infection. A sinus infection is bacterial and thus requires antibiotics to go away. Sinus infections happen when the sinuses become red and inflamed, fill with fluid or pus and are unable to drain. This allows a buildup of bacteria to occur. A cold or allergies are present before the onset of infection. The telltale sign of a sinus infection in adolescents and adults is facial tenderness and headache, but these symptoms don't always manifest in younger children. Fever might be present along with a runny or stuffy nose that lasts longer than the seven days of a simple viral infection. |
